During perfumery fairs I never miss a visit to Bruno Acampora Profumi booth ( English website here ).  First of all because I like to chat with Sonia, a person of rare kindness, and then because I'm trying to devise their strange marketing plan .  They must surely have one, but I fail to understand it: apparently, they seem to follow the "inspiration." For example, the supplier of their famous aluminum bottles ships them a batch of pieces in a wrong format? Well, they don't even think of shipping them back: au contraire, they take this as a sign of destiny and launch a limited edition, super deluxe box set called "Gli Sbagliati – The Wrong ones” with all their iconic fragrances in 5 ml minibottles , which immediately become a huge success… It's not only luck, it's things done with real passion. However, the news is " Azzurro di Capri ", the new fragrance launched in spring during Esxence. All of Bruno Acampora scents feature a

Le candele di Mariangela Rossi: Are you ready to smell?

Maria Candida Gentile's three roses #2: Elephant &Roses and Rrose Selavy

THIS POST ORIGINATES HERE Elephant & Roses . The name is one of the best ever used for a scent, isn't it? The fragrance starts with a rose coupled with warm, aromatic, dry notes (costus and thyme), and an unidentified "animal accord". Alongside the Turkish rose, MCG has entered jasmin and the delicate tenderness of osmanthus flower, while vetiver and sandalwood offer the scent their elegant support. I also smell some spicy notes such as saffron and plush lather, that maybe aren't there. Ambergris soberly sews everythung together. The fragrance smells unusually dry and dusty, like parched elephant skin and, oddly enough, remains delicate in all phases. The elephant could have been placed in a glassware shop -and then he'd have smashed everything around it- and instead it was accommodated on a bed of roses, with an exotic and very interesting result. It 's a rose scent, indeed but the rose is only used as a counterpoint to the “elephant accord ”.

Maria Candida Gentile: three roses (Cinabre)

Italian perfumer Maria Candida Gentile (website, in Italian, here ) has so far created three rose scents that smell very different from each other, thus witnessing not only her unquestionable love for the Queen of flowers, but also her great creativity: it's not easy to concoct three rose scents, all three interesting, pleasant to wear and original! I am absolutely sure MCG is one of the best composers around. Were she French, and equipped with a more efficient marketing department, nowadays she would work for Guerlain in the place of that useless Sylvaine Delacourte, and Guerlain will take back their place in perfumery . Cinabre is  the first of the three since it was composed by MCG a few years ago and is inspired by cinnabar, the bright red color extracted from a plant (Dracena) highly sought after by alchemists; I think this is the right name for a perfume characterized by a strong impact and an almost "touchable" roundness.

In the last days I reached only for challenging and unusual perfumes, things that have a temperament to hold off. My choice fell often on Latex, a fragrance in the Uermì line . Some time ago I had reviewed it for their site (here); I wrote that it was the most interesting ozonic/marine scent I'd ever tried. And wearing it now, I realize I have not changed my mind a bit: it is the only representative of this family I've ever had the wish to wear. The start is fresh, airy, salty, with a feeling of very modern simplicity and cleanliness, typical of all the fragrances in the ozonic family, combining the glazed brilliance of aldehydes and the freshness of marine notes. Latex also features the pungent and metallic feeling, very interesting, of rose oxide. If the fragrance ended here, Latex may be one in a sea of many, and I would have had no reason to wear it in these "strange" days. The fact is that at this point, where others ozonic scents fit floral or woody notes,
